"An Unusual Lesion"

Well, just got back from another visit.

Ruth is looking well. (Actually, no that's rubbish - she's looking like she came off 2nd best in a round with Mike Tyson) but she's in less pain today.

She had quite a long time with visitors today, as her parents went in for the first time, as did a couple of friends who happen to work at the JR, and I took the kids in later. She was pretty tired after it all, so I reckon she'll get a good night's sleep.

The key thing for us today was to hear what the consultant had to say about the op. When he did his rounds it was before I could get there, so Ruth wrote down the key points. We're really none the wiser, to be honest, from those comments, as they echo what was already said before the operation - things like "it's been there for a long time". I guess they can't really tell too much just from the physical appearance - we'll find out more when we get the histology results back. I think that'll be towards the middle of next week.

One comment has thrown us a bit, though. Apparently the consultant said that it was "an unusual lesion". I have no idea what that's supposed to mean. So that's something I'll try to find out tomorrow. It could sound sinister, of course, but it could just have been an aside comment. So, there are more questions than answers from today.

Anyhow, the main and immediate focus is for Ruth to get stronger. On that score, I think she's doing really well. Just before I left her this evening I helped her across the ward - the first time she's been out of bed for a couple of days ... so that's another mini-milestone achieved, and it's helped to make her feel more refreshed and more human.

Onwards and upwards ....

Dear Ruth, Chris, Sarah & Adam,
Thanks for giving me the link today Chris. I surprised myself by actually remembering it! So happy to hear that Ruth has got through the operation so well. We were all thinking about her and are so pleased that it has finally been done without more stress filled delays. If Ruth isn't up to showing off her scar I know a good head scarf retailer !!!!!!!!
Lots of love to you all. Emma & co
