I've just seen Ruth, and the good news is that the surgeon believes they've removed 80% - 90% of the tumour.
And what's more, she may not be in hospital for as long as we thought she might.
She was also looking fresher and stronger - she'd been up & about and had managed to shower, so she felt much better. (Still hadn't washed her hair though ... I didn't like to say anything, but really ... some people just don't care about their appearance do they?!)
Her left eye is still a proper "shiner" - but that'll get better over the next few days. (I certainly won't be putting any hospital photos up here - that wouldn't be fair at all!)
Now she just needs some rest and recuperation time - she's a tough cookie, so I'm confident she'll be on the mend nice and quickly now.

Hi Ruth, Chris, Sarah and Adam.
Thanks Chris for text giving blog site details- fab!
Ruth has been in our thoughts all week and we really do wish her a speedy recovery.
With our love, The Waltons
Hi, Do let us know when we can speak with the old girl. Very much looking forward to hearing her voice again. Graeme, Kay Girl, Jazz and Misty.
Hi Chris. Penny is coming up tomorrow, as you know, but I'm left at home holding the babies. I am so relieved all seems to be going well. Hard to think it was only a year ago when we were in the cottage from hell wondering what on earth was going on. A year from now it will all be a distant memory. (Oops, insensitive pun!)
The blog idea is great. As well as holding you in even higher esteem for the way you've all dealt with this trauma, you have risen to even greater heights through your faultless syntax and punctuation. Not bad for a 2:2 mathematician!

Dear Adam and Sarah,
Thank you for your birthday present. Edward dropped his down the floorboards. Daddy says he will get it out soon. Hmmm....
